I was wondering if anybody has an idea of what was used for this simple Gibson Nick Lucas Rosette? Materials and sizes would be great if known. One of my next guitars will be a nick lucas inspired guitar, and i plan on doing my first hand rubbed sunburst:

Can't help you with the materials, but the 360° rosette on some of them is also a challenge.

Not an expert but I'm Pretty sure it's just plastic.

On my L-00, I used black and white plastic binding (.060"). In the photo above, it looks .060" for the white and .040" for the black. ( just guessing though)

I agree with mike. It looks like a WBW ring and a W ring of just plastic purling. These are pretty easy to get a clean butt joint with for the 360 style

Certainly plastic on my 38 l00 and 46 southern jumbo.

Here is a Nick copy I made for my daughter. She has it so I can't measure it, but it was off-the-shelf plastic sizes:

Thanks guys. It just looked a bit thicker than what i thought standard sixes were available. Ed, do you recall where you got the strips?

Thanks!

Glenn
